The Welwyn Festival Group was formed in 1998 to continue the organisation of the Welwyn Festival Week, started in 1974 by the Round Table. It is a not-for-profit group and any surplus funds that are not required to be carried forward are donated in ways that can benefit the inhabitants of Welwyn. (see Charities page).

Andy Trotter is current chairman of the committee of volunteers. Many of the committee members are drafted from other voluntary committees within the Welwyn area, such as QVM/Danesbury, Isabel Hospice, St.Mary’s Church, St.Mary’s school PTFA, Scouts & Guides, Welwyn Wailers and the Parish Council.
