LAST WEEKEND OF THIS YEAR'S WELFEST!
SATURDAY 26th
12.50pm for 1pm. THE FANCY DRESS PARADE
(Theme “Noah’s Ark”) starts from the Civic Centre,
walking along the High Street, at approx 1.00pm to the:
1.15pm-5pm. FAMILY FUN DAY at Singlers Marsh,
Codicote Road.
(including coconut shy, army cadets, boules, racing ferrets,
bouncy slide, marching band, tea tent, food van, sweet stall,
ponies, clown, punch & judy, carousel, football shoot out,
archery, plate smash, kids races and tug o’ war, White Hart
Fun Day Beer Tent & Hog Roast, charity and independent
stalls which will be offering childrens games, toys, jewellery,
cardmaking, good as new items, etc. plus much more!)
Fun Day Arena Programme:-
1.15pm - 1.30pm PA / Music / Judging (Brian King and
other local judges)
1.30pm - 1.50pm Welwyn Mystery Plays - Noah’s Ark,
featuring children from local schools in costumes.
2.00pm - 2.30pm Bodicote Pipe Band
2.40pm - 3.00pm Kids Races
3.00pm Scruffs Dog Show entrants assemble by arena.
3.10pm - 3.40pm Scruff’s Dog Show
3.50pm - 4.10pm Bodicote Pipe Band
4.20pm - 4.40pm Kids Races/Tug o’ War
4.40pm - 4.50pm The “Big Prize Draw.
4.50pm - 5.00pm. The Duck Race by the 1st Welwyn
Scouts and Guide Groups. Singler’s Marsh

11.30am - 2pm. Hog roast lunch on the Terrace.

12pm-6pm. Contemporary art exhibition by Anneli
Boon. 16 Mimram Place, off the High Street.
1pm-4pm. Jewellery and silversmith displays. Gothic
House, corner of Mill Lane/Church Street.
1.30pm. Cricket match. WGC 3rds v Old Albanian 2nds

8pm The Welwyn Mystery Plays. St Mary’s School Hall.

SUNDAY 27th
10am. A walk around Welwyn. Meet outside the
Wellington. (Enqs 716251)
10 45am-5pm. Welwyn Tennis Club Open Day. All
ages welcome. Coaching followed by a tournament in
the afternoon. Top of the playing fields.
12pm onwards. Darts Competition. £12/team. Cash
prizes. Welwyn Sports and Social Club.
12pm-6pm Contempory Art Anneli Boon 16 Mimram
Place off the High Street
1-7pm. Cricket match. Hertfordshire v Dorset. National
Disabled Championship The playing fields.
2pm. Talk and walk by the Natural History Society, on
the history and natural history of Mardley Heath,
Woolmer Green village hall.
Also Beer Festival. 15 ales and ciders in the garden.
The White Horse.
8pm. Space talk. The 40th Anniversary of Apollo 13 –
Survival in Space. The Civic Centre, Small Hall.
Jazz/music in the evening at the Wellington
ALL WEEK EVENTS
1) "Cuckoo in the Nest" Mystery objects to find in
the windows of local shops and other buildings.
Entry sheets from the Charity Shop.
2) Raffle tickets for the "Big Prize Draw" (available
at the Charity Shop, the Street Market, events
during the Week, and at the Family Fun Day).
Tickets for the Duck Race and other events also
available from the QVM/Danesbury Charity Shop.
3) Open Gardens. All are most welcome to visit
these gardens at their leisure between 2pm - 6pm
on the first weekend. (£1.50 per day - covers all
venues, OAP’s/children free)

4) "The Welwyn Good Life - Open House and
Garden".16 Carleton Rise, Welwyn. 7-9pm
Monday to Friday.£1/person, limited disabled
access to garden only. Come and see a variety of
environmentally friendly and sustainable living
systems at work. Solar panels and hot water
system, rain water harvesting, sedum living roof, ,
chickens and honey bees. Refreshments, plant
sales, demonstrations and information/displays.
5) All Week. 7-11am. Breakfast served at the
Wellington, featuring art by Willow Watercolours.
6) All week. Mon-Fri. 7am-12pm, Sat. 8am-12pm,
Sun. 9am-12pm. Breakfast and morning coffee
at the White Hart. 50p from every cooked breakfast
donated to the Festival charity fund.
7) Art exhibition in the restaurant, White Horse,
Mill Lane. 10am-12pm, 3-5pm. Original art work by
the Browning Art Gallery. Special breakfast,
